nothing too fancy

not this time

just some rocking steady

and some simple basic rhyme

that’s all I’m needing

to play some music today

and I’ll be getting you believing

once you hear what I say.

simple is the best

just some words and music

that needs to be expressed.

love is real

love is strong

love makes you feel

the power of a song

love is king

love is all you need

love makes you sing

as you’re doing the deed.

just be yourself

better yet, just be

rhymes with shelf

rhymes with syzygy

or synchronicity

fortune, luck, or grace

or serendipity

which is the way things fall in place.

Sometimes simple is best.

Every now and then I challenge myself to write something simple. For me it is a challenge because I'm usually one to write epics, and I am not used to keeping it short and sweet. This is one that I wrote during my lyrics-writing paroxysm of the early 2000s.
