Lyric of the Week: A VERY SHORT SONG
I don’t have too much time, so I’ll try to keep it brief
I’ll spare the usual gibberish and save you all the grief
You see I’m just passing through, but I have something to say
So I’ll get it over with and then be on my way
I’m never around enough to make myself heard
But for this moment I’m here so hear my word
I usually try to make a short story long
This time I’ll sing a very short song
What I always believed in still rings true:
Just be natural, nobody can take that from you
That’s the whole message, however small
That’s what I have to say now, that’s all

Really, it doesn't get much shorter than this.
This is from my army days, which was a prolific songwriting period for me. I was, as I still am, in the habit of writing epics, and this was born of a challenge to myself that I could write a short song as well as I could write a long one. I could say that it was harder for me to write this than any of the epics I had penned at the time, but ... naaah. It came pretty easily. However, I never recorded or performed it. That's the way it goes sometimes.
