Lyric of the Week: MY LAST DAY

The day

Is gray

I don’t have what to say

I wish I didn’t have to get up

But I got my bills to pay.

Away

Away

I have to get away

I can’t plug at this anymore

Can’t let this feeling stay.

All day

All day

8-plus hours a day

Doing what for whose benefit

There must be another way.

Hey hey

Hey hey

I finally see the ray

Of sunshine breaking through the gloom

I’ve made it to my last day.

I finally see the ray of sunshine breaking through the gloom.

This is one of my "discontented with work" songs from the early 2000s, when I was working at a job I didn't like in a claustrophobic office I couldn't stand. I couldn't wait for the day I'd give my notice, and I did ... which opened the door to all sorts of unintended and unwanted circumstances. (But at least I didn't have to go back to that office anymore.) No music; never recorded or performed.
