Waiting till the last minute
To get these words out
Waiting till the last minute
To dispel any doubt
Waiting till the last minute
Till I let out a shout
Waiting till the last minute
The last round of the title bout.
I’m waiting
I’m procrastinating
Time’s evaporating
But I’ll get it done.
Waiting till the last minute
To get something done
Waiting till the last minute
Deadline under the gun
Waiting till the last minute
This isn’t any fun
Waiting till the last minute
The pressure weighs a ton.
I’m waiting ...
Waiting till the last minute
So that I can say
Waiting till the last minute
I did something with my day
Waiting till the last minute
Time just ticks away
Waiting till the last minute
To avoid all the clichés.
I’m waiting ...

This lyric dates back to the early 2000s, when I was making it my business to write a song per day during my lunch breaks at work. Many of these lyrics were about some facet or another of my everyday life. This is no exception. I was living at the Jersey Shore, in a life that was stable, on the surface, but there was always an undercurrent of there being something wrong. Procrastination, I suppose, was one way of dealing with it ... pushing off any "issues" until they would be forgotten about, thus absolving me of any need to resolve them. I still do this ... not that it is one of my most endearing qualities. But that's the way that it goes ... a way of getting through this thing we call life.
