You send a zap right up my spine
And through my bones
Every time I talk to you
On the phone
Ya hit me with those surprises
You got in store
Well I never seen any
Thing like you before
Well I love you baby
You’re my dynamo
You’re burning holes straight through me
With those blue eyes
You’re pulling me closer to you
You’re magnetized
I wanna reach out to take your hand
And feel the charge
I wanna walk with you arm in arm
Down the boulevard
Well I love you baby
So let’s get right down
To the nitty gritty
You got enough voltage inside you
To power New York City
You make me wanna boogie
You make me wanna rock’n’roll
You’re soft sweet and sexy
And you got soul
Well I love you baby
You’re my dynamo
Well I love you baby
You’re so fine!
You’re my dynamo

This song dates back to the late 1980s, when my musical partner Izzy Kieffer and I were looking to write a song about a mutual acquaintance who we had both fallen for, on separate occasions, but never managed to get with. This acquaintance was as described ... a constant generator of energy, never slowing down or stopping, with blue eyes whose gaze could drill right through you. (We still see her around the NY/NJ area from time to time.) Musically, I was trying to write an R&B-type scorcher like "In the Midnight Hour" but there is only so much I could do in that department, not being possessed of the right type of voice or "soul." Izzy and I actually recorded a demo of this song while we both lived in Boston, but it was but a blip compared to the other things we wanted to do and ultimately it went nowhere. The demo still exists, somewhere.
