Just rollin’ with the punches
Let ‘em just roll off your back
And when your troubles come in bunches
Just pile your problems up in stacks
Your problems vanish into thin air
You’ll beat the chaos and the strife
And then you can say you’ve been there
When your plans come back to life.
Flowin’ away.
And when you try to find a reason
The logic then just slips away
And when you’re looking for cohesion
You’re stuck with nothing left to say
You wanna head out for the island
And leave your troubles all behind
You’ll be grinnin’ and smilin’
In spite of all that’s on your mind.
Flowin’ away.
And when she says that’s final
And that it isn’t up to me
Just wrap her up in purple vinyl
And then send her out to sea
And when she says she wants out
That she can’t take another day
Don’t let her open up her big mouth
Just send her on her merry way.
Flowin’ away.

This song has its genesis in the writing sessions for the first REALITY SHOCK recording in 1982. A very early, primitive version of the song made it onto the recording but it went nowhere. Fast forward to the early 2000s, when I resurrected the idea and gave it new lyrics and an Offspring-like groove. REALITY SHOCK actually performed it several times during that era and we considered putting it on the band's second album, which, alas, never got off the ground. But hey ... you never know where it will end up.
