Sometimes I sit outside on my window
With my feet hanging in the air
And the music blasting through my headphones
Just to get the feeling
Sometimes I careen down the highway
Sometimes I cruise real slow through town
Sometimes I kick up sand on the beaches
Just to get the feeling
Just to get the feeling
Just to get the feeling
No need for “inner meaning”
Just to get the feeling
Sometimes I dance with my feet on fire
In screaming clothes and two-tone shoes
No fancy steps, just ravin’ up
Just to get the feeling
Just to get the feeling
Just to get the feeling
No need for “inner meaning”
Just to get the feeling

In 1986, in the depths of my army service in Israel, which is by nature a deep and serious time, I wrote out a whole series of songs not intended to be deep or serious, and this was one of them. It could be said that this was the statement for all of them ... "no need for inner meaning," the songs are "just to get the feeling." Musically, I imagined a rave-up similar to Lou Reed's "I Love You Suzanne." Banged out on the piano to the four walls, but not beyond that.
