Everybody’s talking about change these days
We’re gonna change the way things have always been done
There’s gonna be some changes made around here
We’re gonna change the way things are done in Washington
Change the system, change the rules
Change your thoughts, change the schools
Change the customs, change the laws
Change the government, change the cause
Everybody’s talkin’ ‘bout them changes
Don’t change horses in the middle of the stream
Time for sweeping changes beyond all recognition
Times have changed, you know what I mean?
Change your mind, change your head
Change your sheets, change your bed
Change your oil, change your engine
Change your fluids, change your intention
Everybody’s talking about changing hearts and minds
Any change at all is a change for the better
Agents of change, a changing of the guard
A change in the climate will bring a change in the weather
Change my this, change my that
Change my dog into a cat
Change my place, change my luck
Change my car into a truck
Change my lover, change my spouse
Change my duck into a mouse
Change my record, change my tune
Change the sun into the moon
All this change
And nothing’s changed
‘Cuz the more things change
The more they stay the same
Hope and change
And only change never changes
So brother spare me the talk
And maybe spare me some change!

I did not vote for Barack Obama. I was not taken in by his promises of "hope and change" and was concerned by his stated aim to "fundamentally transform the United States of America." However, I was among a small cadre of non-supporters who were willing to be proved wrong. Unfortunately, for us and for the USA, it didn't take long till we were proved right and we no longer had any illusions of what these slogans meant. The whole country and the whole world are currently paying the price for his sort of hope, change, and transformation, and any attempts to right those wrongs are being prevented by any means necessary on the part of his partisans. G-d help us all.
